Helpful information for travelers departing from Salzburg

With a little planning and preparation, your vacation can get off to a relaxed start at Salzburg Airport. Here are the most important tips for your next trip:

Travel documents:
Please check the validity and type of documents required for travel. Some destinations also require a minimum validity period for travel documents.

Electronic Travel authorization:
Austrians need an electronic travel authorization (eTA, ETA, ESTA) to enter some countries. This is a digital document that is usually linked directly to the passport and often subject to a fee. In addition to the eTA countries, many other countries require conventional visas (visa in passport) or e-visas. The application should be made before booking or at least in good time before departure.

Here are the most important countries where electronic pre-registration is mandatory for Austrian citizens:

• USA (ESTA): Mandatory for entry by air or sea.
• Canada (eTA): Mandatory for entry by air.
• Australia (ETA/eVisitor): Required for tourists.
• New Zealand (NZeTA): Required for visa-free entry.

Find out in advance about your airline's check-in times. For scheduled flights, check-in usually starts two hours before departure (three hours in advance for Flydubai). In addition, different airlines have different rules regarding the check-in deadline:
 

  - 60 minutes before scheduled departure: Turkish Airlines, flydubai, Flynas, Israir, El Al, Corendon, Nouvelair
 -  45 minutes before scheduled departure: British Airways 
 -  40 minutes before scheduled departure: aall other airlines
