  • Delineation of Contaminated Site
Defining the final boundaries of the contaminated site was a key step. Extensive soil investigations, conducted in cooperation with the Federal Environment Agency, have now made it possible to establish these boundaries. The contaminated site is significantly larger than originally assumed. The finally delineated site can be viewed via the link to the contaminated site GIS.
  • Salzburg State Environmental Monitoring – PFAS Contamination and Remediation of Contaminated Sites
In the autumn of 2022, the Salzburg State Department for Nature and Environmental Protection commissioned an environmental monitoring project for the area north of Salzburg Airport. This initiative involves analyzing the chemical and biological status of groundwater and surface water and screening for potential contamination by per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). The City of Salzburg’s mains and drinking water supply is unaffected by this issue and remains of the highest quality. Residents in the monitoring area north of Salzburg Airport can register for water sampling by emailing nJ5zo0O1oKqyoUEgo25cqT9lnJ5aYKAuoUcvqKWaYzS0.
