Liverpool
Liverpool has attractions littered throughout the city and more museums and galleries than any other UK city outside of the capital. Each attraction is leading in its own right, but there seems to be a few ‘big hitters’ that everyone wants to know about.
We’ve got museums, galleries, unique historic buildings, arts centres and sport too!
Now there’s one thing that a trip to Liverpool just isn’t complete without, and that’s a trip on the ‘Ferry cross the Mersey’ – the views from the Mersey Ferries River Explorer Tour offer some of the absolute best views of Liverpool’s world famous waterfront. If you’re a creature of culture, then you’ll need to make time for these SEVEN museums – yes, seven. National Museums Liverpool boasts World Museum, Merseyside Maritime Museum, Walker Art Gallery, Lady Lever Art Gallery, International Slavery Museum, Sudley House and Museum of Liverpool - the world’s first national museum devoted to the history of a regional city.
The Albert Dock is one of the UK's finest heritage attractions – a walk around the quayside will take visitors passed little sweet stores, world-class museums including Tate Liverpool and The Beatles Story – yes, all things Beatles – and a number of bars and restaurants. For more Beatles, the Magical Mystery Tour leaves from the Albert Dock and takes fans to the famous sites of Strawberry Field and Penny Lane and ends at the Cavern Club. With the National Trust, you can even step inside Lennon and McCartney’s childhood homes.
Liverpool cathedral is Britain’s largest cathedral and a truly breath-taking place. If you can, book onto a tower tour and explore the highest vaults of the building.
