Access to the Eastern Asian Market
From summer 2020 Finnair will operate scheduled flights to Helsinki twice a week (Monday and Sunday)/ strong focus on the Scandinavian market/ access to the Asian market/ Finnair strengthens the long haul network for the Salzburg Region/ important for incoming and outgoing traffic
In July 2019 Finnair was awarded Best Airline in Northern Europe at the Skytrax World Airline Awards in London for the ninth time in a row. The award is seen as a benchmark for passenger satisfaction with check-in, boarding, cleanliness, food, drinks, the entertainment system on board as well as the friendliness of the cabin crew.
“Finnair is a strong premium partner in Salzburg, now offering scheduled flights from Salzburg to Helsinki starting summer 2020 in addition to the long-time charter flight program. This route will not only motivate Finnish guests to visit the region, but also the people in Salzburg and Bavaria, who would like to go North. A very important side effect however is, that this new route allows us to reach many transfer passengers from the Eastern Asian market, flying to Helsinki”, says Christopher Losmann, Head of Aviation & Sales at Salzburg Airport.
Depending on the booking situation, an Airbus A319 or an Embraer 190 will be used. Flights can be booked under: www.finnair.com . Since Finnair is a partner in the oneworld alliance, passengers benefit from a great variety of destinations within the network.
For Salzburg, the new route is interesting for both incoming and outgoing passengers. Helsinki offers excellent transfer options to Japan, North China or Eastern Russia. Since June 2018 Finnair has been flying in codeshare with Cathay Dragon between Hongkong and chosen destinations in Asia (for instance Hanoi, Yangon, Phnom Penh or Siam Reap).
“The two scheduled weekly flights to Helsinki offered from summer 2020 are an excellent starting point for the cooperation of Salzburg Airport and Finnair. We definitely plan to increase and develop this cooperation in the future”, says CEO Bettina Ganghofer.
