With the beginning of the winter flight programme, Eurowings is now offering direct flights from Salzburg to Great Britain.
The start of the Lufthansa subsidiary Eurowings at the beginning of the year was a great success. In the upcoming winter season Eurowings will be offering flights to Great Britain.
The airline landed in Salzburg for the first time in January coming from Düsseldorf with the Airbus A-320, which since then has been based here. Only a few days later, it took off for its maiden flight to the French capital Paris. Since then the German carrier is a fixed partner to Austria´s second largest airport.
“We´re really excited that Eurowings is clearly strengthening the British market. This means interesting new flight connections for our Austrian and Bavarian customers. It also offers more possibilities for our British guests coming to Salzburg in order to enjoy their winter holidays in the airport´s catchment are", says Bettina Ganghofer, CEO of Salzburg Airport.
In addition Eurowings operates flights to Paris (2x/week), Düsseldorf (5x), Hamburg (6x), Brussels (2x), Cologne (daily) and NEW once a week to Bremen. Especially in winter time people might enjoy a “time out” from their daily routine. People from Salzburg and Bavaria love Great Britain, its history, culture, music and vibrant nightlife. Especially young people enjoy the vivid cultural scene you find in Britain´s major cities.
“Great Britain is the fourth largest market for tourism in the Salzburger Land, which has been developing quite positively, especially for the past three years”, says Leo Bauernberger, CEO of SalzburgerLand Tourismus GmbH. “This is one of the reasons why we started marketing efforts there together with the Province of Salzburg. Eurowings is the perfect partner to be based at Salzburg Airport, since the airline realized the market´s potential as well and will bring even more winter sport enthusiasts from Great Britain to Salzburg”.
The new Eurowings flight connections do not only come handy for the people in Salzburg and Bavaria, but also for British guests who benefit from an additional number of flights to visit the city of Mozart. Since the 1980s Great Britain has been regarded as the most loyal guest in winter time at Salzburg Airport. The additional flights from the United Kingdom invite British guests to enjoy Salzburg, the city of culture, and the surrounding wintersport regions. In addition British guests like to go on holidays without skiing equipment. The domestic sports industry has naturally adapted to the needs of these guests and offers modern skiing gear in the various wintersport resorts.
