Operating from Great Britain to Salzburg since 2006 / winter sports guests from 6 British cities / 170.000 passengers on flights to Salzburg within 12 years / England is one of the most important incoming markets apart from Germany
Over the last decades, England has become one of the most significant incoming markets for winter tourism. The British carrier, Jet2.com, based in Leeds, is one of the airline-partners that are very important for Salzburg Airport and its surrounding winter sport regions. Since 2006 about 170.000 passengers have travelled from England to Salzburg on Jet2.com-flights and back again.
“Jet2.com has been a fundamental partner in Salzburg for 12 years and we are very pleased that Jet2.com is building on this with the launch of ski flights to Salzburg from London Stansted today. In addition, Jet2.com brings skiing guests from Birmingham, East Midlands, Edinburgh, Leeds, London Stansted and Manchester to the Austrian and Bavarian tourist regions”, says Christopher Losmann, Divisional Manager Aviation at Salzburg Airport.
Jet2.com has a special treat for passengers flying from London Stansted to Salzburg between November 17th and December 7th 2017: ski gear is checked-in for no more than 1 £ per passenger.
The company was created from the 1978 founded Channel Express (later Express Air Services). In 2002 Jet2.com was established. Between 2004 and 2005 Jet2.com opened new bases in Manchester, Belfast and Blackpool. Meanwhile the airline is based in 8 British cities (Belfast International, Birmingham, East Midlands, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds, Bradford, London Stansted, Manchester and Newcastle). Jet2.com offers connections to European cities as well as destinations in the Mediterranean with a fleet consisting of 75 aircrafts (status: summer 2017). The British carrier was awarded several times for on-time-performance and high level of performance, last in 2017 as “Best Airline UK” and “Best Low Cost Airline Europe” by TripAdvisor. During the course of a year, the British airline offers more than 50 summer and winter destinations.
